Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is a captivating story to the Cambodia casinos that sit just over the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where gambling den gaming is not legal. Eight gambling dens are based in a generally tiny area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent spot, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; still, investment sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are apparently needed to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is true of many border crossings.

The original Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge casino, highlights one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six table games, including 87 punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel building that contains a number of luxuries accompanying the gambling den, which offers ten thousand square feet of 130 slots and eighty eight gaming tables.
