There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the border from next door Thailand, where gambling hall gaming is prohibited. Eight casinos are established in a generally tiny area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent area, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing income acquired from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of restrictions constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; however, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to pass, there are methods around this, as is true of many borders.

The original Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat casino, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty gaming tables. The Naga river boat is open all hours with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 one armed bandits and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around vacation and hotel complex that contains a number of luxuries in addition to the casino, which offers 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and 88 table games.
