Gambling-The American Promise

Isn’t that what gambling is all about. You are continually hopeful that you simply can acquire anything for absolutely nothing, or at least incredibly little. Don’t you recall what your mom told you? You can not obtain something for nothing. That is what my mom told me, and I’ve discovered out since then that she was completely right. I think Wilson Mizner stated it best, when he said, "Gambling: The sure way of getting practically nothing for something." Truly, at the end of the day, that is it…..right?
In the good state of Montana they have these amazing small machines, known as keno machines. These keno products are everywhere, and the places that these products reside are called "gambling dens". I place gambling dens is quotes because they aren’t gambling houses like you consider of gambling dens. You will find no table casino game or slot machine game products, just video slot machines poker and keno machines. In any case, I managed to get myself roped in to the dream of winning a few hundred bucks in a sitting. The next factor I knew I was going back to these products pretty much daily. After a couple of months of this I recognized that no one definitely wins. Oh certain, you may win 50 bucks here and there, but over the a period of time your just feeding the products 5 dollar bills like they were candy.
I managed to look at myself and I don’t even go into the "gambling houses" any more. I’ve met men and women who seriously almost lost everything they have betting the ridiculous keno machines. The factor that gets me about this type of wagering would be the fact that gambling establishments will advertise on the radio that they have an eighty five per cent payback rate. This may be the rate because it’s mandated by law. A eighty five per cent payback rate sounds wonderful, but when you believe about it this simply means that should you put 1 dollar into the equipment it gives 85 pennies back . This really is how it works. Just think of it as a reverse ATM. When I started thinking of gambling in these terms, I stopped.
I suppose that’s my goal with this article. To get you to realize that you simply genuinely can’t win, no matter what other persons tell you. As Doc Holiday stated in Tombstone, "The odds are all for the casino." That and only that may be the only reason there is even a place on this planet known as Sin City. Because the odds are all about the house.
